Celebrating Cinco de Mayo in New York City

Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo—or the fifth of May—is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War (1861-1867).  A relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage.  New York City provides the right amount of spice for your New York City student tour to celebrate Mexican heritage, abundant with food, culture, and fun.
In The Big Apple your New York City school trip will enjoy diverse cultural traditions, music, dances, and colorful attires from Mexico.  Street fairs, including the
Cinco de Mayo Street Fair outside of Grand Central Terminal provides food and crafts with seasonal, Mexican flavor that your New York City educational tour group can enjoy. Restaurants throughout the city offer delicious meals tailored to the holiday.
Your New York City field trip will enjoy mariachi madness in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park with  Sunset Park Community’s Cinco de Mayo Celebration filled with Mexican music, dance and crafts.  The annual Cinco de Mayo Parade is held two days later.
No matter how your New York City student tour chooses to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, New York City is one of the most caliente palces to spend it in!
