Celebrating Women’s History Month in Philadelphia

Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly (and Sisterly) Love will help your student tour group celebrate Women’s History Month.
(1) At The National Constitution Center, your school group can participate in a variety of events.  Highlights include a workshop which tells the story of women’s suffrage through a modern pop hit; a women’s-history-centric self-guided museum tour; and women’s history trivia at the Giant Game Board.
(2) The African American Museum teams up with Independence National Historical Park and the Smithsonian Institute for a special symposium that honors the work of African-American women.
(3) The Betsy Ross House offers Once Upon a Nation, storytelling featuring inspiring stories about important women that helped shape our nation.  The exhibit highlights household tasks performed by 18th century women, such as food shopping and laundry, as well as notable women.

(4) Your educational group can participate in a range of programs and presentations at Independence National Historical Park featuring the women who helped found our nation and forge our path.
(5) The sites of Historic Germantown celebrate Women’s History Month with events including a show about a Civil War nurse, and a discussion about the life of Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of the Girl Scouts.
