Colonial Capital Tours Is Honoring Black History Month In A Special Way

Colonial Capital Tours honors Black History Month with a lineup of month long activities in several cities for you.

In Baltimore, celebrate the life of abolitionist Frederick Douglass with lectures, re-enactments, tours and discussions during Frederick Douglass week, February 14-20, 2016.

In Boston, tales of intrigue and bravery, poetry and defiance by Black Bostonians will unfold during the African American Patriots walking tour offered by the Freedom Trail Foundation.

New York City has long been a center of African-American life in the United States. Enjoy viewing a replica of the Brooklyn Historical Society’s rare copy of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Since Philadelphia’s earliest days, African-American culture has played an influential role in shaping the city’s unique color and personality.  This February, The National Constitution Center will host a month-long celebration of African American history.

Washington D.C. remembers the contributions of African Americans with numerous events and cultural programs such as Smithsonian Black History Month Family Day Celebration on February 7, 2016 a day of music and drama performances, arts and craft activities and other themed activities.

In Colonial Williamsburg, special programs will be offered throughout Black History Month that explore the stories of various people and culture.  At the African American Meeting House, walk in the footsteps of Frederick Douglas and other abolitionist leaders who helped bring slavery to an end in this country.
