Colonial Capital Student Tours Joins The Excitement For The 2015 National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Washington D.C.

Colonial Capital Student Tours offer a diverse selection of student tours, educational tours and group tours.  Our featured highlight this week, we get ready for Christmas with the lighting of the National Christmas Tree in Washington D.C.

For the 53rd consecutive year, on December 3, 2015 the National Park Foundation and National Park Service will present the 93rd annual National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.  Popular entertainers and a United States military band add to the celebratory evening when the President of the United States lights the National Christmas Tree and brings a message of peace to the nation and world.

Since 1932, the large evergreen tree has been decorated as a Christmas tree and adorned with ornaments from sponsoring organizations from each state as well as lights designed by GE Lighting.

Smaller trees representing the 50 states, District of Columbia and its territories surround the National Christmas Tree in the northeast quadrant of The Ellipse near the White House, referred to as the Pathway to Peace.
